7TH FEBRUARY - 8.30 am – 1 pm in the Printworks Theatre 1, Morrison Hotel, Ormond Quay, Dublin 1
The Traidlinks Seminar “Partnerships for Sustainable Development” held on Thursday February 7th 2008 aimed to bring together the Irish Development community in Ireland to introduce Traidlinks and explore the dynamics of Private Sector engagement in development.
Audience participation was vital and we would like to extend a special thanks to all attendees, who provided valuable feedback.
We would like to thank Minister Michael Kitt, T.D. Minister of State at the Department of Foreign Affairs with special responsibility for Overseas Development, for opening our seminar, and providing an insight into how Irish Aid is stepping up its support for Private Sector development in our programme countries.
The full text of Minister Kitt's speech is available here
Thanks also to all our Speakers and Panel Members:
Michael Carey, JFFG
Hans Zomer, Dóchas
Noel White, Irish Aid
Paddy Maguinness, Niall Mellon Township Trust
Grace Ssebugwawo, National Council of Uganda Small Business Organisations
A report on the seminar is available for download here
The success of our seminar showed us that there is a real impetus in the Irish Development Sector to work with the Private Sector with the aim of eradicating poverty. This event was the starting point for on-going dialogue as we as a community grapple with the complex issues. We hope this is the first of many events in which we discuss and agree the best way forward.
